Apple Crumble

Cinnamon-spiced apples baked under a buttery, oaty crumble topping until golden and bubbling. The ultimate cosy pudding, best drowned in cream.

Ingredients
- 800 g apple, peeled and chopped
- 80 g white sugar
- 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 150 g wheat flour
- 100 g rolled oats
- 120 g brown sugar
- 120 g butter, cold and cubed
- 1 pinch salt

Method

Toss the spiced apples — Heat the oven to 190C. Toss the chopped apples with the white sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice and spread them in a baking dish.

Make the crumble topping — In a bowl, rub the cold butter into the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt until it forms coarse, clumpy crumbs.

Top the apples with crumble — Scatter the crumble mixture evenly over the apples, covering them completely but keeping the texture loose.

Bake until golden brown — Bake for about 40 minutes until the topping is deep golden and the apple juices bubble up at the edges. Serve warm with cream or ice cream.
