Black Pepper Beef

Tender beef and crisp peppers in a peppery, savoury-sweet sauce with a serious kick of freshly cracked black pepper. Fast, fiery, and satisfying.

Ingredients
- 500 g beef steak, sliced thin
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 4 garlic, minced
- 15 g fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tsp black pepper, coarsely ground
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 300 g white rice, to serve

Method

Marinate the beef and mix sauce — Toss the beef with the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Whisk the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, black pepper, and 80 ml water into a sauce.

Sear the beef — Sear the beef in the hot oil over high heat for 4 minutes until browned, then remove and set aside.

Stir-fry the aromatics — Fry the onion and pepper for 3 minutes, then add the garlic and ginger for a further minute until fragrant.

Combine and glaze with sauce — Pour in the sauce and simmer for 2 minutes until glossy, then return the beef and toss to coat. Serve over rice.
