Microwave Steamed Sesame Broccoli

Tender-crisp broccoli steamed in minutes in the microwave, then tossed with sesame oil, soy sauce, and toasted sesame seeds for a quick Japanese-style side.

Ingredients
- 500 g broccoli, cut into florets
- 3 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 spring onion, thinly sliced
- 1 pinch chilli flakes

Method

Add broccoli and water to the bowl — Place the broccoli florets in a large microwave-safe bowl and add the water.

Microwave until tender-crisp — Cover the bowl tightly with a microwave-safe plate or lid and microwave on high for 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli is just tender-crisp.

Uncover and drain the broccoli — Carefully uncover, letting the steam escape away from you, and drain off any excess water.

Toss with sesame dressing — Toss the hot broccoli with the sesame oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame seeds, and grated ginger until evenly coated.
