Moroccan Mint Tea
4 servings · 15 min total
Fragrant green tea steeped with fresh mint and sugar, poured from height into small glasses for a frothy finish. The warm, sweet heart of Moroccan hospitality.

Ingredients
- 1 l water
- 3 tbsp green tea leaves
- 1 fresh mint
- 4 tbsp white sugar
- 2 dl water, for rinsing the tea leaves
- 1 tsp orange blossom water
- 4 fresh mint, for garnish
- 1 pinch saffron
Method
- 1.
Boil the water — Bring the water to a rolling boil in a kettle or pot, about 5 minutes.
- 2.
Rinse the tea leaves — Place the green tea leaves in a traditional teapot, pour in the 200 ml of water for rinsing (freshly boiled), swirl briefly and drain it away to rinse the leaves and remove bitterness, about 2 minutes.
- 3.
Steep with mint and sugar — Add the bunch of fresh mint, the sugar and a pinch of saffron to the teapot, pour in the remaining 1 liter of boiling water, and let it steep over gentle heat for 5 minutes without boiling.
- 4.
Adjust and blend the tea — Stir in the orange blossom water. Pour a glass of tea and taste, adjusting the sugar if needed, then pour it back into the pot to blend the flavors.
- 5.
Pour with a foamy top — Pour the tea into small glasses from a height to create a light foam on top, drop a fresh mint sprig into each glass, and serve immediately while hot.
