Step 1 of 6Mix the butter base

  • butter150 g
  • white sugar180 g
  • egg2
  • vanilla extract2 tsp
  • baking powder1½ tsp

Heat the oven to 200°C and line the base of a 24 cm square tin with baking paper. Whisk the melted butter with 100 g of the sugar until glossy, then beat in one egg and 1 tsp of the vanilla extract.
