Connect ChatGPT, step by step
Cook and Scale is a published ChatGPT app: no developer mode, nothing to paste.
- Press the button above. It opens Cook and Scale’s page in ChatGPT’s app directory — sign in to ChatGPT if it asks.
- Press Connect on that page.
- Sign in with Google — the same account you cook with. The sign-in happens on cookandscale.com, so no password is ever typed into ChatGPT.
- Tick what your assistant may do, and you are connected. Ask it to add a recipe.
In a Business, Enterprise or Education workspace an admin enables apps once for everyone — a quick ask, then it is yours. Don’t see the app? The manual path still works: switch on Developer mode under Settings, add a connector under Plugins and paste the server address shown below.
Connect Claude, step by step
Works on Claude Free (one custom connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Paste the Cook and Scale server address (just below).
- Sign in with Google — the same account you cook with. The sign-in happens on cookandscale.com, so no password is ever typed into Claude.
- Tick what your assistant may do, and you are connected. Ask it to add a recipe.
On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds the connector once from Organization settings, and everyone in the organisation can then connect to it themselves.

https://cookandscale.com/mcpThis is the one thing you copy — for Claude, for any other client, or for the manual ChatGPT path. The ChatGPT app itself needs nothing pasted.
Any other assistant, app or terminal
Anything else that speaks the Model Context Protocol — a desktop client, a coding tool, your own script — connects with a connection key you create in your Cook and Scale settings. Paste the key wherever your client asks for one and it works exactly like the two above, with the same permissions and the same account.

Say it the way you would say it to a friend — a handful of this, a splash of that, until it looks right. Your assistant writes it down as a proper recipe with ingredients, amounts and steps.
Hand it a photo of a cookbook page
Point your phone at the page and give the picture to your assistant. It reads the ingredients and the method and adds the recipe to your library. Handwritten cards work too.
Empty a folder of screenshots
That pile of saved screenshots finally becomes a recipe collection. Hand them over in one go and they arrive as separate, searchable recipes.
Fix a recipe by asking
Double the cake, swap the butter, rewrite step four, correct the oven temperature. Say what you want changed anywhere in your private library and it is changed. What you have published stays yours alone to edit — a live page only ever changes when you change it.

When you do publish, your photo is what makes it yours — a picture of the food you actually cooked, with your name on the page. That is what keeps Cook and Scale full of real dishes made by real people, and what makes your recipe look like yours next to everyone else's.
Your assistant never sees your password: you sign in with Google on cookandscale.com and approve the connection there. It can only ever do what you ticked, and you can disconnect from your settings in one click — your recipes stay exactly where they are.

Which assistants can I connect?
ChatGPT and Claude today. On ChatGPT, Cook and Scale is a published app: open its page in the ChatGPT app directory and press Connect. On Claude it works on Free with one custom connector, and on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Any other app that speaks the Model Context Protocol — a desktop client, a terminal, your own tooling — connects with a connection key from your settings.
Is it free?
Yes. Cook and Scale is free to use and connecting your assistant costs nothing. The ChatGPT app is added from its directory page; Claude needs a plan that allows custom connectors — the plans are listed above.
Do I have to give ChatGPT or Claude my password?
No. You sign in with Google on cookandscale.com, exactly as you do now, and approve the connection there. Your assistant never sees a password.
What can my assistant actually do with my account?
Exactly what you ticked when you connected: see, add, edit or delete recipes, and see, manage or delete from your pantry, meal plans and collections. You can change that or disconnect in one click, any time, from your settings.
Will my recipes end up on the internet?
Only the ones you publish. Everything your assistant adds goes into your own library and stays private until you decide to put it out in the world.
How many recipes can I add?
