Golden, air-fried squid rings in a lightly spiced crust, served with fresh lemon wedges. A lighter take on the classic Italian starter.

Start cooking

Method

  1. 1
    • squid 500 g
    • buttermilk 2½ dl

Soak the squid — Soak the squid rings in the buttermilk for at least 15 minutes to tenderize.

  2. 2
    • squid 500 g
    • wheat flour 120 g
    • cornstarch 40 g
    • paprika 1 tsp
    • garlic powder 1 tsp
    • cayenne pepper ½ tsp
    • salt to taste

Coat in seasoned flour — In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Drain the squid rings and toss them in the seasoned flour, shaking off the excess.

  3. 3
    • squid 500 g
    • olive oil 2 tbsp

Toss with olive oil — Preheat the air fryer to 200°C. Toss the floured squid rings with the olive oil to coat lightly.

  4. 4
    • squid 500 g
    • lemon 1
    • fresh parsley 2 tbsp

Air fry until crisp — Arrange the squid rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until golden and crisp. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and parsley.
