Soft, pillowy yeasted doughnuts puffed up in the air fryer, brushed with butter and rolled in warm cinnamon sugar for an easy no-fry treat.

Start cooking

Method

  1. 1
    • dry yeast2 tsp
    • milk1¼ dl
    • white sugar40 g

Activate the yeast — Warm the milk and stir in the dry yeast with a pinch of the sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2
    • wheat flour300 g
    • dry yeast2 tsp
    • white sugar40 g
    • egg1
    • butter40 g
    • salt½ tsp

Knead and rise the dough — In a large bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter, then knead for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

  3. 3

Cut out the doughnuts — Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to 1.5 cm thickness. Cut into rounds and cut a small hole in the center of each to form rings. Let rest for 15 minutes.

  4. 4

Air fry the doughnuts — Arrange the doughnuts in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them. Air fry at 180°C for 5-6 minutes, until puffed and golden.

  5. 5
    • white sugar40 g
    • butter40 g
    • ground cinnamon2 tsp

Coat in cinnamon sugar — While still warm, brush each doughnut with melted butter, then toss in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated. Serve warm.
