A rich, fudgy chocolate cake made entirely in a mug and ready in about two minutes flat. The fastest chocolate fix you'll ever make.

Start cooking

Method

  1. 1
    • wheat flour4 tbsp
    • cocoa powder2 tbsp
    • white sugar3 tbsp
    • baking powder¼ tsp
    • salt1 pinch

Mix the dry ingredients — In a large mug, whisk together the wheat flour, cocoa powder, white sugar, baking powder and a pinch of salt until evenly combined.

  2. 2
    • milk3 tbsp
    • vegetable oil2 tbsp
    • vanilla extract¼ tsp

Stir in the wet ingredients — Add the milk, vegetable oil and vanilla extract to the mug and stir with a fork until you have a smooth, lump-free batter.

  3. 3
    • chocolate chips1 tbsp

Fold in chocolate chips — Fold in the chocolate chips, saving a few to scatter on top of the batter.

  4. 4

Microwave the cake — Microwave the mug on high power for about 90 seconds, until the cake has risen to the rim and looks just set on top but still slightly fudgy in the center — do not overcook or it will turn rubbery.

  5. 5

Cool briefly and serve — Let the mug cool for a minute before eating straight from the mug with a spoon, or turn it out onto a small plate.
